MANCHESTER FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER // Can we bring the grandparents too?

Manchester Family Photographer’s comments on whether you can bring your children’s grandparents to your family shoot for a multi-generation shoot.

I often get asked, can we bring the grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins along too?

I love a multi-generation shoot. Marnie is lucky enough to have her great grandparents, as well as different grandparents, aunties and uncles and cousins. She absolutely adores them and has such a special relationship with them all. She actively asks to see them and gives them the biggest squeezes when they’re reunited (even if it's only been a few days)! We’re a close knit family and I have so much appreciation for that - family is my number one joy in life.

So I totally appreciate the sentiment behind getting your larger family together for a shoot - it is so special. My shoot price is for families up to six people, but you can always add on extra members for £25 per person. This is to reflect the additional work involved in bigger groups. We’ll take photos of the whole family together; the little family units within the large family; the grandparents and their grandchildren; the grandparents and their children; the grown up siblings; the tiny siblings/cousins; great grandparents with all the kids… All the different photos you’d like.

We get the group shots done at the beginning of the shoot so they’re all ticked off (a good idea when children are super unpredictable and may be “done” at any time!). Then we can all relax and take some gorgeous candid photos. Uncles spinning around their niece/nephew, the children running around after each other, everyone running to the ice cream van and devouring a sweet treat, playing games together.

I’ve had bookings before from families over from Australia visiting their UK family, families being reunited from various countries all over the world for the first time in years, and those wanting to make sure they get gorgeous photos of the new addition with their whole village. To me, family is something to be treasured, and time together to be celebrated. Those photos show the love between the whole family and you can feel the gratitude from everyone that they’re together.

So, no matter how large your extended family is, I’ll be able to capture it all - the entire team and all the love.
