Booking a Family Shoot in Manchester this Christmas.

With the festive season creeping up on us and my 2023 diary nearly full, I’m looking back at my past Christmas shoots with a cosy feeling and looking ahead with excitement.

December is always full of lots of festivities and lots of family shoots across Manchester and surrounding areas! Previous years have seen lots of family reunions, with some families reuniting in Chorlton after ten years apart from living all over the world and covid; some families introducing new additions to the annual multi-generational shoot in Didsbury; and other families in Manchester just wanting to capture this magical time - especially for their little people. Families cosied up in front of the fire in their South Manchester home, reading books in front of the tree, kids placing decorations on the branches with their cute, chubby fingers, the excitement in their faces as they look forward to Father Christmas visiting. 

Reasons for booking your Christmas Family Shoot.

Some families will gift the shoot to each other as Christmas present, instead of wracking their brains to buy the usual kinds of physical gifts that will be quickly forgotten about. This gift will be so meaningful and last forever. It is also a great way to make the family shoot extra affordable by splitting it between different families that make up your extended family unit.

Some families use the shoot to get beautiful images for photo gifts for family members. I’ve seen my images used for all sorts of lovely photo gifts, from stunning fine art prints (which I sell and / or come with your package), calendars, albums, memory baubles, and other special keepsakes.

Many families just want this lovely, hyggelig time capturing for themselves. It may be baby’s first Christmas, or the first Christmas that your little one is enchanted by the magic of Santa and you’d love to bottle up this magical time.

When to book in your Christmas Family Shoot.

If you’d love to book in a shoot to get images in advance of Christmas to make photo gifts, then please book your shoot in by the end of the first week in December. If you’re happy with just digital images ahead of Christmas, then you can book in any time up until the big day. I make a huge effort in December to get all outstanding editing done before Christmas day - so you can enjoy your images at this time.

My pre-Christmas print order will be made on 13 December, in line with the printers’ deadline, to ensure you get your images in the post before Christmas.

Will you be in the Lakes over Christmas for family shoots there?

Most years, we go to the Lakes in between Christmas and New Year. I already have one family shoot booked in in the Lakes in this festive period - and I have room for 1-2 more! So if you live in the Lake District or are visiting for Christmas / New Year, consider booking your family shoot between 27 December and 2 January!

But will we want to use our Christmas shoot photos all year round?

Absolutely. We won't just get images in front of the tree. We can also use other parts of your home, or go on a winter walk all wrapped up. You’ll get a variety of images you can use all year round!
