Didsbury Family Photographer // The Magic of Autumn Family Shoots.

Didsbury Family Photographer’s thoughts on why autumn is the best time of the year for a shoot.

Autumn is the BEST season of the year… If you’ve followed me on Instagram for a while you’ll know how much I absolutely adore autumn. The pressure of summer is off, life slows down just a little, it’s the best time for fashion, you can cosy up in the evening with a blanket and candles lit, and the best part - the beautiful autumnal colours. There is nothing better than grabbing a PSL (or insert hot drink of your choice) and going for a crisp walk in the autumn sunshine, through the stunning earthy tones of the falling leaves. Plus its spooky season!

As well as all these joys that autumn brings, it is also my favourite time of the year for shoots! The beautiful leaves make the best backdrop and the soft autumn sunshine is just perfect for those dreamy shots.

It’s a great time to make a day of it when you have your shoot. You could go for brunch with your little family then have a beautiful autumnal walk through the leaves on your shoot. My shoots are never formal, posed shoots - it is just like hanging out with a new pal. We’ll chat, play (what is more fun for the littles than throwing and kicking leaves up in the air?!) and have a relaxed walk around. Then afterwards, go for a little treat activity for the kids - something you can have in the bag to use on your shoot just in case you need it!

September can still be pretty warm and summer-like, but the nights draw in earlier, making it the perfect time for a dreamy sunset shoot. October sees the best of the autumn trees and foliage if you're looking for a super cosy shoot in beautiful surroundings. And November still has the last of the autumn colours but is cooler so it's great for a wrapped up, cosy shoot before it gets super cold through the winter!

This beautiful family shoot in Marie Louise Gardens in Didsbury was so perfect. The weather was at peak autumn and the sunshine helped add to that magic. We had a gorgeous stroll, searched for fairies, chatted, played games and got a bit mucky throwing around leaves!

My autumn diary has just released. After my summer shoots selling out two weeks into the season, if you’d love to have your own autumn magic captured in Didsbury (or beyond!), please don’t hesitate to contact me today by clicking the below button!

Thanks so much!

Hope to see in in / around Didsbury for a family shoot this autumn.
