Lake District Family Photographer’s words and images from a beautiful maternity shoot by Rydal Water.

At the beginning of April 2024, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Kim in her third trimester, with her husband Sam - and their dogs Martha and Mabel. The day before and day after were a total washout but we were blessed with the most beautiful weather!

The couple chose Rydal Water as the spot for their maternity shoot in the Lake District and travelled all the way from Manchester that day for the shoot. I was so grateful they chose me as their photographer - and this spot for their shoot - as the whole gallery is so gorgeous!

This is my favourite spot to shoot in South Lakes. It has everything - water, fells, woods - and all super accessible from the road! I’ve done lots of shoots here now and each time I fall a little but more in love with it.

It is also one of my favourite places to go with my family. It has lovely walks which are easy to do with little ones, the caves which are fun to visit, and also the water shore which is great for paddling the warmer months. My girl, Marnie, loves it there! There is also a pub across the road for some refreshments after your shoot!

It is also right between Ambleside and Grasmere - both lovely villages to visit.
