I’m Laura - mama to Marnie, Cumbrian-born, major empath. Hopeless optimist. Adventure seeker, social introvert, family board game competitor. Chronic overplanner. Never before have I felt such a depth of emotions as I have since becoming a parent. Now a true sentimental soul. It unlocks a whole new being; a parent with a purpose, an altered state of emotions. The first time I had a real photo taken of Marnie and me, I cried. I could see it right there, the bond I’d longed for, the tiny person in the flesh, in my arms, a dream that became reality. It was like I could see both from the outside in, and my perspective of our little world. As a family and motherhood photographer, I want to give you images that conjure up these same feelings.
My shoots are very relaxed and my approach is to always go with the flow. I will use very gentle direction and “natural nudges’ to guide us to the beautiful light and get the best out of the shots. But a lot of my work is in the little moments, when you’re just in your own little world with your tiny team. I love to capture the magic in the everyday.
Beautiful bumps; playful couples; dog parents; cosy newborn days; glorious grandparents; the whole gang in their wellies! Whichever form your family takes, I love to capture the love.
Most of my shoots are outdoors in nature, going on a little adventure together. Exploring somewhere new or going to the same park you spend hours strolling around with the pram. You might have just the place in mind or would love me to suggest somewhere new to suit you. Or it could be home where you feel the happiest and most content; for me to capture the everyday play and the cuddles in your favourite spot on the sofa.
Wherever it is, I capture your family as they are - no backdrops and studio lights - just real life family adventures; giggles, tears and all.
